What is Autodesk Inventor?

If you are familiar with the NXT, Autodesk Inventor has the same capability for VEX, as LEGO Digital Designer does for the NXT.  An Autodesk Inventor license comes with the more expensive classroom kits.  If you do not want to buy one of those, you can get an Educational license through the Student Community if you are a student or educator.  Homeschool students also qualify, but must contact Thom Tremblay.  Click here to get more information.

The Autodesk VEX Robotics Curriculum tells you how to use Autodesk Inventor, helps you master the design process, and gives you sample challenges to complete with your robot.  This is a great resource!

Digital models of VEX parts can be downloaded at the VEX website.  Using these, you can construct your robot or assembly before you even purchase the parts, saving you money if it will not work.

Autodesk Inventor can be used to create instructions on how to build your robot, render images of your robot, and even create movies of your robot in action.  It may be a little hard to use at first, but it is worth it in the long run.
